According to Wikipedia, Maine produces 25% of all lowbush blueberries in North America with 24,291 hectares (60,020 acres.) The wild blueberry is the "official" fruit of Maine, (you know, besides lobstah?) We sure do love our blueberries here in the Midcoast. Stands up on the podium with our beloved maple syrup.
Down the road in Rockport, our very own Beech Hill Preserve, owned and operated by the Coastal Mountains Land Trust, has been offering blueberries to members and the surrounding public for quite some time. You can purchase pre-packaged blueberries at the seasons start, or you can aim to be around for the "pick your own" window of opportunity. Fun for the entire family, you can let loose on the acreage and fill your baskets to the brim!
