The Gift of Snow…and Skiing
December 20, 2013
It’s almost Christmas and local outdoor enthusiasts have received an early present with the much-anticipated opening of the Camden Snow Bowl. After a little help from Mother Nature, local skiers have been waiting for our local mountain to open, and today is the day.
A community-owned ski and recreation area, the Snow Bowl offers stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean from the 1300-foot summit of Ragged Mountain. In addition to alpine skiing and snowboarding, it features cross country ski and snowshoeing trails, a snow tubing slope, ice skating on nearby Hosmer Pond, and a toboggan chute that hosts the annual US National Toboggan Championships every February.
With its A-frame lodge, ski and snowboard school, full rental shop, and youth racing program, the Camden Snow Bowl is the place to be during the winter months.
While coastal Maine sees its share of big winter storms, the Snow Bowl also has a snow making system that helps to ensure plenty of skiing and riding throughout the season. Most trails are groomed daily, providing great conditions to enjoy your sport of choice and the amazing views.
A year round recreation area, the Camden Snow Bowl offers hiking, mountain biking, tennis courts, ball fields, fishing, boating, swimming and more during the warmer months, as well as facility rentals for any special occasion.
As you see, coastal Maine isn’t just about sailing and lobster bakes. We offer something for everyone to enjoy no matter what time of year. Come join us and experience this local jewel yourself!
