Owl's Head Transportation Museum Presents...
The 2014 Spring Antique Auto Show!
As if we couldn't find another reason to tell if Spring had finally arrived, the Owl's Head Transportation Museum presents their Annual Antique Auto Show. The two day event, spanning the 30th and 31st will feature the classics we've seen at the Museum, and some very special guests. Said to be in attendance will be a 1930 Curtiss-Wright Travel Air D-4000 Speed Wing apparently taking flight for the first time since the historic aircraft joined the collection in December 2013. You heard me right, we're going aireal! Visitors and returning friends will also have an opportunity to be the first to view the 1917 SPAD "in flight", since it's full re-covering and repainting in the aviation workshop. The “Checkerboard SPAD Team” of museum volunteers responsible for the project will be on-hand to answer questions about the plane as well.
If that's not enough, they've got more in store! Including but not limited to the Museum’s 1941 Stearman, 1933 Waco, 1918 Standard J-1 and the beloved 1917 Fokker DR.I triplane (aka the Red Baron). These planes are all part of the magic that the Owl's Head Transportation Museum respresents. The open flightline provides an opportunity for visitors to see, hear and experience the planes close up and visit with our pilots.
It's noted online that the planes will indeed fly early in the day, so guests are asked to get to the Show as early as possible to witness as much as they can.
Planes aren't all they've got in store, there will be vehicles as well, including but not limited to; a 1932 Ford Cragar Racer, 1886 Benz replica, 1908 Overland Roadster, 1933 Pierce Arrow and many more. Vehicles will also be in attendance that are considered the "alumni" of the Museum, so be on the lookout!
Finally, to put the icing on the cake, all guests will have the chance to enter into a raffle for a 1951 MG TD. There will also be family friendly activities throughout the day, Model-T rides, and and assortment of hands-on workshops for the entire family.
Tickets to the show can be purchased at the door, where memberships to the museum will also be available.
